The Saturday Night Supper program started in 1998 at the former Chalmers United Church, now called Royal City Mission, and in 2008 was devolved to the various churches that actually provide the meals and volunteers each week.
Currently, there are 20 churches or groups participating to provide a really good hot meal to all in need, in the company and fellowship of others. Supper is served every Saturday from 6-7 p.m. at Royal City Evangelical Church, 50 Quebec Street, Guelph.
Harcourt participation
Harcourt typically hosts four Saturday Night Suppers each year.
We require 12 volunteers to prepare and serve the meal and our usual menu includes pasta casserole (recipe below), caesar salad, pickles, cheese, rolls, assorted fruit pies and vanilla ice cream, along with juice, milk and coffee. Cash donations for food purchases are gratefully accepted.
The members of the Harcourt congregation are very generous supporters of this important outreach program in downtown Guelph.
